POLAR BEAR EXPRESS AND LITTLE BEAR TRAIN TRIP TO MOOSONEE AND MOOSE FACTORY Our journey to Moosonee and Moose Factory enables students to travel through our country’s history to see spectacular landscapes, cross great rivers used by European fur traders and experience the land of the native Cree people.
DAY 1 Depart from Union Station Toronto to Cochrane on Ontario Northlander Rail
DAY 2 Morning Arrival in Cochrane Scrumptious Breakfast at Station Inn Depart on Little Bear Train from Cochrane to Moosonee Lunch and Activities on Train Arrival at Moosonee Fun Boat Taxi Ride to Moose Factory Accommodation at Cree Village Eco Lodge Tour of Ecolodge and unique features Traditional Dinner at Lodge in Migwam over campfire
DAY 3 Breakfast at Cree Village Eco Lodge Moose Factory Guided Tour of historic sites Tour of Cree Cultural Interpretive Centre Lunch at Lodge Fossil Island Tour (fossil hunt/observe tides – weather permitting) Dinner at Lodge Cree Leader Talk - covering native history, culture and traditions Evening Activities
DAY 5 Breakfast at Cree Village Eco Lodge Polar Princess Cruise around Bay and shopping at Trading Posts Exciting Hike onto Muskeg along trails Session at Ministry of Natural Resources Interpretive Centre Return to and Accommodation at Cree Eco Lodge Dinner at Polar Bear Lodge Open for Evening Activities
DAY 6 Breakfast and Lunch at Cree Eco Lodge Activities Polar Bear Express Departs from Moosonee to Cochrane Dinner on Train Late Arrival in Cochrane Accommodation at Station Inn, Cochrane
DAY 6 Early Morning Departure on train, Cochrane to Toronto Packed breakfast to be taken along on train Lunch on Train Late Afternoon Arrival at Union Station, Toronto Laundry facilities and Bank machines will be available throughout trip. Activities organized will depend on season.
Tour of Canadian Aviation Museum, Amos Refuge Pageau, La Cite d’Or Mines & Algonquin Northern Edge
DAY 1 Depart Toronto to Ottawa Arrive at Canadian Aviation Museum - Ottawa Dinner at Museum After dinner - Activities set up by museum Overnight Ottawa in museum with own sleeping bags
DAY 2 Breakfast at Museum Depart after breakfast Ottawa to Amos Stop for Lunch enroute Amos – Refuge Pageau (Wildlife Sanctuary) Arrival at Hotel in Val d’Or Dinner and evening activities
DAY 3 Breakfast Depart Hotel Val d’Or to visit La Cite d’Or Mines Tour of La Cite d’Or Mines and lunch down in mines Depart for Algonquin Northern Edge Arrival and Dinner at Caswell Resort or onsite at Algonquin Northern Edge Fun Evening Activities: Star gazing, Owl Hooting, Swimming
