Journey throughout Italy
and experience the various regions each one more
extraordinary
than the previous. We begin in the northern part of Italy to
visit cities that boast of palaces, museums and basilicas
filled with the work of Michaelangelo,
Leonardo da Vinci, Giotto & Brunelleschi.
Our first stop is
Venice,
"the city of canals" which features
architecture and art from the Byzantine, Gothic,
Renaissance and Baroque periods. Here we boat along the
canals and explore the narrow streets,
tiny shops and many cafes that form part of the
magnificent buildings - most of which are only
accessible on foot.
Then off to
Tuscanyto immerse
ourselves inone of the most
beautiful cities in the world -
Florence
- to experience its
extensive contributions to the history of art.
We continue on to the southern part of Italy where some
of the best pizza in the world is made and stay in the
Sorrento region, a picturesque town on the shores
of the
Mediterranean Sea. We take the opportunity to tour the
Amalfi Coast with its
brightly accented cliff top homes, to swim in the
turquoise sea, sunbathe on the spectacular beaches and wander
through quaint hillside towns. And if you want to explore the
island of
Capriand its
radiant
Grotta Azzurra or Blue Grotto for the day, just a boat ride
away, you have the opportunity to do so.
Nearby, we visit the
Pompeii
archaeological site - thousands of years
old and yet,
the most well preserved sites that exist today. And you
have the option of hiking up Mount Vesuvius near
the Bay of Naples to view the enormous crater
which spewed all the lava that covered these sites in 79
A.D.
Finally,
we head to
Rome, to enjoy this bustling
metropolis and all its major piazzas each one with unique monuments.
Of course you will walk through the historic Forum, Palatine Hill,
and
tour the Colosseum and Vatican City as part of your
program!
Accommodation will be in 3 or 4 star air conditioned hotels centrally
located with classes held at our hotels and also at
on-site locations to enhance the course material where
applicable.
