Program Cost: $3500 March 10 - 18, 2012 (Dates subject to change)
Join us for a meaningful experience in Cambodia, a country with magnificent temples situated deep within forested areas, lakes teeming with hundreds of species of birds and fish, huge rice paddies spread across the land and cities filled with colourful bustling markets.
You travel through the 2 key regions to visit historical sites and monuments that reflect Cambodia’s culture with time allocated to volunteer and contribute to the community.
We start in Phnom Penh, the capitol of Cambodia to visit the Killing Fields and Museums that will help you understand Cambodia’s turbulent history and hopeful future and then move to Siem Reap where you discover sanctuaries and temples built centuries ago - architectural masterpieces with majestic towers ornately and exquisitely carved.
We visit local villages to watch them work at their trade; view the Tonlé Sap and Mekong River—very important water sources on which thousands of fishing families earn their living; ride elephants up hills to the temples, and hike to sanctuaries and travel in tuk tuks - a key mode of transportation through the bustling cities. The night markets and unique shops will give you the opportunity to use your bargaining skills to bring some memorable things home with you along with the unforgettable experiences.
This journey through Cambodia definitely provides you with the opportunity to explore the beauty of the country and experience the fascinating culture of the very friendly people.
